Team Trainer Role
Each CBHA team has a designated team Trainer. CBHA Trainers may come from different educational, emergency response, health, rehabilitation, sport science, or related backgrounds.
Trainers may include kinesiology students or graduates, emergency medical responders, primary care paramedics, nurses, physiotherapists, chiropractors, registered massage therapists, athletic therapists, sports medicine students, or individuals from other approved backgrounds.
The team Trainer’s role is to support player safety during team activities. This may include:
The team Trainer applies Trainer Program procedures at the team level.
The team Trainer may remove a player from activity when there is a safety concern. This includes situations where a player has a suspected concussion, appears unfit to continue, or presents with signs or symptoms that are inconsistent with safe participation.
Return-to-play decisions are not made by the CBHA Board, coaches, managers, parents, or players.
Coaches, managers, and team officials must follow the team Trainer’s participation decision.
If there is uncertainty about whether a player can safely participate, the player will not participate until the team Trainer confirms the next step. The team Trainer may contact the Trainer Coordinators for process support or escalation when needed.
