Concussion Protocol

If a concussion is suspected, the player must be removed from play immediately.

The player may not return to the same game, practice, or team activity that involves risk of contact, collision, or further injury.

A concussion may be suspected after a direct blow to the head, face, neck, or body, or when a player shows signs or symptoms such as:

  1. Headache
  2. Dizziness
  3. Nausea or vomiting
  4. Confusion
  5. Balance problems
  6. Vision changes
  7. Sensitivity to light or noise
  8. Brain fog
  9. Memory problems
  10. Emotional changes
  11. Personality changes
  12. Loss of consciousness
  13. Seizure or convulsion

When a concussion is suspected, the team Trainer will:

  1. Remove the player from activity
  2. Complete required documentation
  3. Notify the parent or guardian
  4. Notify the coaching staff of participation restrictions
  5. Recommend an appropriate medical assessment
  6. Support communication about next steps

When in doubt, the player sits out.
